Its purpose is to outline the steps Vallist has taken and will continue to take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring within our business and throughout our supply chain.
As a hospitality-led workspace operator, Vallist recognises that respect for human dignity, fairness, and ethical conduct are fundamental obligations. We are unequivocally committed to ensuring that every aspect of our operations reflects these values, and we will not tolerate any practice that undermines basic human rights.
Vallist believes that human rights are universal, inviolable, and non-negotiable. We are firmly opposed to all forms of slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. We will not knowingly conduct business with any organisation that engages in, supports, or fails to take reasonable steps to prevent such practices.
A number of policies underpin this commitment and help us maintain a responsible and transparent approach to managing our supply chain.
Our Human Rights Policy establishes Vallist's dedication to upholding internationally recognised human rights frameworks, including the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This policy affirms our obligation to ensure safe, respectful, and fair working conditions throughout our operations and among those with whom we work.
Our Ethics Code reinforces standards of professionalism, integrity, and responsible conduct. It requires all employees to act with honesty and fairness, to remain vigilant to unethical practices, and to play an active role in ensuring that those we partner with share our values.
Our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy sets out our specific commitments under the Act. It emphasises the importance of supplier due diligence, continuous monitoring, and staff training, and requires teams involved in procurement or operations to remain attentive to potential risks.
Our Policy provides employees with a safe and confidential channel to report concerns, including any relating to suspected modern slavery, trafficking, or exploitative labour practices. Vallist supports open communication and ensures that no employee will suffer detriment for raising legitimate concerns in good faith.
Together, these policies form a comprehensive framework designed to mitigate risk, strengthen accountability, and ensure that modern slavery has no place in Vallist or in any part of our supply chain.
Vallist recognises that the identification and prevention of modern slavery depends on awareness. Employees, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, or operations, receive training designed to help them understand the indicators of modern slavery and human trafficking. This training encourages teams to remain attentive to potential warning signs, to ask critical questions during procurement processes, and to report any concerns promptly.
Where appropriate, Vallist engages external partners, including legal advisers and specialist training providers to ensure that our staff receive up-to-date guidance on emerging risks and evolving regulatory expectations.
Our operations rely on a carefully selected network of suppliers and external partners, including service providers such as cleaning, maintenance, and security firms. Vallist is committed to ensuring that our outsourcing and supply chain arrangements are well-managed, transparent, and aligned with our ethical standards.
Before entering into a commercial relationship, Vallist conducts proportionate due diligence. This may include reputational checks, compliance questionnaires, direct conversations with prospective suppliers, and a review of their own policies relating to modern slavery and human rights. All suppliers are expected to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and to adhere to the ethical standards set out by Vallist.
Where a supplier operates in a sector or region considered to present a higher risk of modern slavery, enhanced due diligence will be undertaken. Vallist may request additional documentation, clarification of labour practices, or other assurances necessary to satisfy our requirements. Should concerns arise at any point, the business relationship will be reviewed and may be terminated.
Vallist is equally committed to ensuring that the clients and businesses we support uphold standards consistent with our own. We will not knowingly provide services to organisations engaged in activities associated with slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, or child labour. If we discover that a client is participating in or supporting such practices, Vallist will suspend or discontinue services immediately.
Given the nature of our industry and the safeguards we have implemented, Vallist considers the overall risk of modern slavery within our business and supply chain to be low. However, we do not view this as grounds for complacency. We monitor the performance and integrity of our suppliers and remain attentive to any changes that could increase risk.
If at any time we identify behaviour or indicators that may suggest non-compliance with the Act, Vallist will investigate promptly and take appropriate action. This may include reporting concerns to authorities, terminating supplier relationships, enhancing monitoring processes, or offering additional staff training.
Vallist acknowledges that the fight against modern slavery is ongoing and requires constant vigilance. Over the coming year, we will continue to review and strengthen our internal processes, supply chain management, and staff training to ensure that our approach remains effective, responsible, and aligned with best practice.
We will also continue to build awareness among employees and partners, encourage open discussion of concerns, and invest in the systems and resources needed to minimise risk.
The directors and senior leadership team at Vallist bear ultimate responsibility for the implementation of this statement and for ensuring that adequate measures are in place to prevent modern slavery from occurring within our operations or supply chain. They are committed to ensuring that sufficient resources, training, and oversight mechanisms are available to support this objective, and that the commitments outlined in this statement are upheld across the organisation.
