Human Rights & Ethical Conduct Policy

    1. Introduction

At Vallist, our purpose extends beyond offering exceptional workspaces. We recognise that the way we operate has a meaningful impact on individuals, communities, and the wider environment in which we exist. Respect for human dignity, fairness, and ethical conduct forms the foundation of our values. These principles influence both the decisions we make and the relationships we build with employees, members, partners, and local neighbours.

Vallist is committed to upholding internationally recognised human rights standards, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization's Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. This policy reflects our aspiration to conduct our business in a way that is responsible, transparent, and considerate of all those touched by our activities. It applies to every aspect of Vallist's operations, including our people, our partners, and the communities that surround our buildings.

    2. Our Commitment

We are dedicated to ensuring that every person affected by Vallist's work is treated with dignity and respect. Our approach is proactive: we aim to identify, prevent, and mitigate potential adverse impacts before they arise. Where challenges emerge, we act promptly and responsibly to address them. We hold ourselves to high standards and expect the same of those who work with or alongside us.

    3. Our Relationship with Communities

Every Vallist building becomes part of a broader neighbourhood and contributes to the character of that area. We recognise the importance of being a thoughtful neighbour and an active contributor to the wellbeing of the community.

We seek to foster environments that are not only welcoming for our members but are also harmonious with the surroundings in which we operate. We listen to the views of local communities and take account of their perspectives when making decisions that may affect them. Wherever appropriate, we welcome dialogue with community representatives, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure that our operations contribute positively to the places we call home.

    4. Diversity, Inclusion, and Respect

Diversity is a source of strength and enrichment within Vallist. We value the unique backgrounds, identities, and experiences that our employees and members bring to our spaces. We are committed to cultivating workplaces that are inclusive, respectful, and free from discrimination or harassment in any form. Behaviour that undermines the dignity of others, whether through prejudice, intimidation, or disrespect is incompatible with our values and will not be tolerated.

Equal opportunity is an essential element of our culture. We are dedicated to fair treatment and to ensuring that everyone, regardless of background or personal characteristics, feels welcomed, supported, and empowered to contribute fully.

We extend these expectations to all our partners, suppliers, and contractors, who are required to uphold the same principles of integrity and respect when working with Vallist.

    5. Slavery, Human Trafficking, Forced Labour and Child Labour

Vallist maintains an unequivocal stance against slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. These practices are fundamentally incompatible with our beliefs and have no place in our operations or supply chains.

All employment with Vallist is voluntary, and we will never employ anyone under the age of sixteen. We carefully assess our suppliers and partners and will not engage with any organisation that is known to participate in or tolerate exploitative practices. Should we become aware of such behaviour, we will take immediate steps to end the relationship.

    6. Reporting Concerns and Addressing Non-Compliance

We encourage anyone connected to Vallist, employees, members, contractors, or visitors to raise concerns if they believe that conduct inconsistent with this policy has taken place. Reports may be made to a line manager, the Human Resources team, or the General Manager of the building. Concerns will always be treated with seriousness, sensitivity, and confidentiality.

If a breach involves a member of Vallist's team, it will be addressed through our Disciplinary Procedure, and may result in actions up to and including dismissal. If a concern relates to a supplier, contractor, or third party, Vallist reserves the right to suspend cooperation, terminate agreements, and withdraw access to our buildings.

Our aim is not only to resolve incidents but also to create a culture in which speaking up is encouraged, respected, and understood as a vital part of maintaining ethical operations.

    7. Continuous Improvement

We view responsible conduct as an ongoing commitment rather than a fixed standard. Vallist is dedicated to continually strengthening our approach to human rights by reviewing this policy regularly, ensuring employees receive appropriate training, monitoring the conduct of suppliers, and integrating ethical considerations into decision-making across the business.

We recognise that expectations evolve, and we are committed to meeting and exceeding them.
